Saturday's Ryman North action review

By David Watters

Cray Wanderers moved six points clear at the top of the Ryman North table on Saturday after beating Wroxham 3-1 at Hayes Lane, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

James Duckworth gave the Wands a 34th minute lead that Matty Waters cancelled out 12 minutes into the second half. But a Ben Hunt brace in the 75th and 82nd minutes won it for the leaders.

AFC Sudbury are now second after beating Phoenix Sports 1-0 at The Wardale Williams Stadium.

Craig Parker`s 72nd minute penalty was all that separated the teams in the end.

Heybridge Swifts battled to a much-needed win against visiting AFC Hornchurch which lifted them off the foot of the table and prevented the Urchins from moving into second spot.

After a goalless first half, the home side took the lead when Raphael Duyile fired a shot past Sam Mott in the 51st minute – a goal that proved to be enough.

Cheshunt took advantage of Tilbury and Bury Town`s involvement in the FA Trophy to slip into the top five with a 3-1 success at Romford.

Jason Hallett proved to be the Ambers` hero with a quickfire hat-trick in the 14th, 22nd and 23rd minutes – a Tom Fletcher own goal in the 18th minute being Boro`s response.

Aveley and Dereham Town are level on points in eighth and ninth place respectively, so a 2-2 draw between the teams was not unexpected.

Billy Holland gave the home Millers a 15th minute lead from the spot but goals either side of the half-time break from Ryan Crisp and Sam Borrer had the Deres in front, with Dave Fallah equalising on 62 minutes.

Maldon & Tiptree secured the bragging rights in their derby with Witham Town.

The Jammers grabbed a 3-1 victory at the Village Glass Stadium. The visitors took the lead when Charley Edge fired in a free-kick from 25 yards on 13 minutes.

On 31 minutes, Benn Wyatt increased the Jammers` lead - his first goal of the season. After the break, Maldon went further in front on 57 minutes through Darren McQueen but Witham pulled a goal back on 74 minutes through Nathan Koranteng.

Soham Town Rangers edged out Haringey Borough 2-1 at Julius Martin Lane, coming back from being an Anthony MacDonald goal down on the hour-mark to win, thanks to Salim Relizani after 73 minutes and sub George Darling two minutes from time.

Brightlingsea Regent fought out a goalless draw at Barkingside, who played for over an hour with ten-men after having skipper Paul Wright sent-off.

Great Wakering Rovers and Harlow Town also shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in which the home side came back from 2-0 down after Layne Eadie and Fabion Simms had given the Hawks their advantage by the 23rd minute.

Brad Vaughan reduced the deficit on the half-hour mark and, after Harlow`s Craig Pope was sent-off on the hour, Billy Johnson levelled four minutes from time.
