Saturday's Ryman South action review

Ryman League South Division

Worthing and Sittingbourne both blew chances to climb clear of the Ryman South relegation zone with defeats away from home on Saturday but Corinthian Casuals took their chance on FA Trophy First Qualifying Round day.

Chips are still second bottom but didn't lack effort in their 5-3 reverse at Faversham who are seventh after winning 5-3 at Salters Lane.

Renford Tenyue put the Lilywhites ahead on 18 minutes but Murray Price replied with a brace on 27 and 37 minutes to earn the visitors a surprise 2-1 half-time lead. Their advantage didn't last long as Town quickly dragged themselves back into the game, Wayne Wilson equalising three minutes after the restart.

Tenyue struck his second just after the hour mark before Jamie Maxted made it 4-2 and youth team star Kehinde Mosaku crowned his debut with a goal to make it 5-2 late on. Chipstead had the last word but no points with a consolation third in the final minute from Dan Moody.

With five wins and three draws already, Redhill have made a good start to life in the Ryman League but they were beaten 3-0 at home by Walton & Hersham who climbed to sixth with only goal before Juan Onieya pounced twice in the 53rd and 70th minutes to wrap up the win and three vital points.

Corinthian Casuals did make the most of their chance to climb off the bottom when they staged a 1-0 smash and grab raid at Merstham, veteran midfield dynamo Jamie Byatt the cool head needed to successfully dispatch an 86th minute penalty.

Sittingbourne are now just a point ahead of Casuals after their 3-2 reverse at Worthing, their sixth straight defeat of the campaign on the road.

Luke Gedling gave Worthing a third minute lead but the visitors must have thought they had a chance of breaking their away day duck when Tom Loynes levelled on 23 minutes and Ryan Goulding put them ahead from the penalty spot nine minutes into the second period.

Worthing's John Lancaster shattered those dreams from the spot six minutes from time and Keiron Pamment ensured another miserable trip back to Kent for the Bourne faithful with the home side's winner three minutes later.
