Seasiders shock the Gulls, Millers go third, and the Seed Growers bash Boro…

…and somehow, Barking fail to win at Swifts, whilst Grays leave it late. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian North round up

Felixstowe & Walton United hosted a Canvey Island having their first difficult patch of the campaign, and the Seasiders struck first, Charlie Warren opening the scoring just after the half hour. They struck second, too, Sam Ford scoring with ten minutes to go, and climbed to fourteenth- whilst the Gulls contemplate a third successive loss, unthinkable just a few weeks ago. That said, they’ll go back to the top if they win their game in hand, so it’s too early to talk of a crisis.

Great Wakering Rovers were walloped by Aveley when they first met this season, but have improved enormously since- although it made little difference to the outcome this afternoon. That said, it was the visiting Millers who got their noses ahead in this one, George Sykes with his fifth of the season, although the hosts were level six minutes before the break, Sam Jeremiah scoring from the spot. There was still time for Alex Akrofi to restore the away lead before the break, his fifteenth of the campaign, and the next goal was all important- and it came to the Millers, Manny Ogunrinde putting daylight between them and their hosts. Sykes added a fourth for the visitors with eleven minutes to go, and the Millers are up to third. Image courtesy of Lambpix.

Hashtag United’s Sam Bantick is having a fine season. He got his second goal in two matches to open the scoring against Dereham Town at the Len Salmon, adding to the eleven he got for Coggeshall Town before his latest move. The Tags were ahead for only six minutes, however, Toby Hilliard drawing the Magpies level, but went ahead once more on the half hour, Toby Aromolan proving he isn’t just a pretty face. He later was far from pretty, picking up a red card, but the Tags held on for victory to go seventh. Town are one of three clubs on thirty three points, and drop to fourth.

Grays Athletic left it until the eighty eighth minute to finally break Basildon United’s resistance, but ended up winning two-nil, both goals coming from David Knight, who moves on to twelve for the season. Athletic ended the day in fifth.

Heybridge Swifts hosted Barking, the visitors desperate for a victory, and the Blues went ahead on twenty one minutes through Charlie Heatley, and then got another almost immediately, George Sykes with the second. Swifts halved the defecit within three minutes, Daniel Walker pulling one back, and then equalised five minutes later through Karl Kayembe. Barking weren’t downhearted, and went ahead again with twenty three minutes left, Kenedi Dariri restoring their lead, and got a fourth nine minutes from time, George Okoye surely making sure of their first win since September 10th- but no! Lionel Ainsworth got one back, and then right at the death Sam Carter made it four-four.

Romford hosted Coggeshall Town, and the Seed Growers opened the scoring five minutes before the break, Jermain Francis with the goal. Francis made it seven for the season with the visitors second just before the hour, and when Alex Teniola made it three we knew what time it was- three points time for Town. There was still time for a fourth, Aryton Coley doing the honours, and Town are up to twelfth.

Tilbury and Witham Town couldn’t manage a goal between them.
