Seed Growers strengthen

Big name arrivals at Coggeshall Town

Coggeshall Town, who were just outside the playoff places with games in hand when last season came to a sudden halt, last night announced a number of signings designed to ensure that they are firmly inside the top five when the 2020-21 season comes to a close.

First in came Brightlingsea Regent legend Jake Turner. Jake was a crucial part of Regent's North Division title-winning side in 2016-17, and has continued to be a mainstay at the Taydal during their subsequent seasons in the Premier Division. He played more than any other Regent player last season, making thirty nine appearances.

Next came two from Heybridge Swifts. It is a return to the Seed Growers for Tyler Corlett, a defender who was part of their squad when they reached the North Division Playoff Semi-Finals in 2018-19 before leaving for Swifts and making thirty four appearances last season. Tyler is accompanied by striker Matthew Price, who had two spells at Heybridge last season- starting the season with them, seeing his time hampered severely by illness and injury, joining East Thurrock United for a while, and then heading back to Scraley Road to finish the campaign. He scored twenty two goals for Swifts in 2018-19, and thirty six the season before (half for Brentwood Town).

Central defender Milo Grimes jumps up the pyramid from Stanway Rovers, who play in the Eastern Counties Premier. Milo previously played for AFC Sudbury, and also spent some time alongside Jake Turner at Brightlingsea Regent in 2018-19.

Finally, Lee Flavin comes in to take up a player/coach role. Lee spent part of last season in a coaching role at both Ilford and Hertford Town, but you are perhaps more likely to remember him from his playing roles with Dagenham and Redbridge, Southport, St Albans City, Bury Town, Grays Athletic, Hayes & Yeading United and more.
