We asked our fabulous Pitching In Isthmian Photographers to choose their favourite photograph of the campaign, and tell us why it is important to them.

We’ve had a magnificent Pitching In Isthmian season, one which has been illustrated and enriched by the work of a number of brilliant photographers, who have recorded it for posterity. Justine Burch brings us her very favourite image of the season.

• When was the image taken (match, event, etc)?

Leatherhead v Cray Wanderers– Pitching In Isthmian Premier League – 2nd April 2022

• Why is it important to you?
Leatherhead were battling to stay up and just sealed 3 points against Cray - seeing the fans so happy and passionate is what football is all about!

• How and why did you begin taking photographs at football matches?

I bought myself a fairly cheap camera in 2019 and started taking some photos at my husband’s Sunday league games in 2020. After a year of doing this, I realised just how much I enjoyed capturing the action and drama surrounding football. This year I upgraded my camera gear and began volunteering at Leatherhead & shooting at more Sunday league games in the area.

• What are your hopes for the forthcoming season?

Next season I hope to see Leatherhead get promoted and to follow them on their journey to do so, alongside increasing my portfolio across Sunday league.
