Shot of the Season 21-22: Roy Warner

By Ian Townsend

We asked our fabulous Pitching In Isthmian Photographers to choose their favourite photograph of the campaign, and tell us why it is important to them.

We’ve had a magnificent Pitching In Isthmian season, one which has been illustrated and enriched by the work of a number of brilliant photographers, who have recorded it for posterity. Roy Warner brings us his very favourite image of the season.

• When was the image taken (match, event, etc)?

This was taken at Brentwood Town vs Maldon & Tiptree on 2nd October, 2021.

• Why is it important to you?

The photo is memorable to me as the weather was terrible for the whole match with heavy rain and I was soaked through! Maldon & Tiptree were losing 2-1 and with goals in the 87th minute and another one in injury time took the 3 points. As you can see, they were rather happy about it!

• Where can we find the rest of your work?

On the club website- here.

• How and why did you begin taking photographs at football matches?

I have only been photographing football this season to help both the 1st Team and Youth section increase their profile.

• What are your hopes for the forthcoming season?

My hope for the forthcoming season is to be able to record Maldon & Tiptree gaining promotion!

If you regularly take photographs at our matches but haven't yet submitted yours, there's still time. Send it to Ian at townsendaround@gmail.com
