Shot of the Season 21-22: Stuart Tree

We asked our fabulous Pitching In Isthmian Photographers to choose their favourite photograph of the campaign, and tell us why it is important to them.

We’ve had a magnificent Pitching In Isthmian season, one which has been illustrated and enriched by the work of a number of brilliant photographers, who have recorded it for posterity. Stuart Tree brings us his very favourite image of the season.

• When was the image taken (match, event, etc)?

Corinthian-Casuals vs Lewes - 26th February 2022

• Why is it important to you?

I love the joy in this photo. I love how Ricardo Thompson's smile. I love how the young chaps are delighted to have a player give them high-fives. Not all heroes have to be in the Premier League. It's an image of just pure happiness.

• Where can we find the rest of your work?

Mostly on Flickr - here.

• How and why did you begin taking photographs at football matches?

About 12 years ago. I bought my Canon 1000D entry level camera and started taking it to football with me. I fell in love with taking action pics. It's still a buzz to this day.

• What are your hopes for the forthcoming season?

Ushering in a new era, post James Bracken. It's been an incredible seven years but now we look ahead to a new chapter and wherever it'll take us.

If you regularly take photographs at our matches but haven't yet submitted yours, there's still time. Send it to Ian at townsendaround@gmail.com
