Shot of the Season: Alan Edmonds

By Ian Townsend

We’re asking our fabulous photographers to send in their favourite image of the Pitching In Isthmian season and explain why it’s important to them. Alan focuses on a local derby

When was the image taken (match, event, etc)?

Boxing Day derby against Maldon and Tiptree

Why is it important to you?

As a photographer I am always trying to find a different shot as photographing the same team week in week out you can end up taking the same type of images. This is a particular favourite of mine as we had been 1-0 down and Danny Nesbitt had equalised in the first half and on 71 minutes Sam Park scored a wonderful volley which I had managed to capture all the way- and he celebrated by sitting on the fence with the Swifts fans. I don’t think you can beat a wonder goal putting you 2-1 up away to your local rivals, and a great original celebration to finish it off. Lewis Watson scored a third late on and we won 3-1 so it was a good day all round.
