Shot of the Season: Gareth Nash

By Ian Townsend

We’re asking our fabulous photographers to send in their favourite image of the Pitching In Isthmian season and explain why it’s important to them. Gareth brings us a rather touching family portrait!

When was the image taken (match, event, etc)?

The picture is a simple one of Ellis Devereux making his first team debut for Hashtag- and getting a final few words from the gaffer ( his dad Jay ) against Hornchurch.

Why is it important to you?

Technically not the best picture I've ever taken but this is about the moment. Ellis has grown up around Hashtag. This moment meant a lot to him but also to plenty of other people at the club. To his Dad and also to the rest of his family I'm sure. However, the supporters, many who would count him as a good friend, were ecstatic too.

A moment he deserved at a club he loves and where his Dad is the manager. As I said it's not the most technically great snap but often it's about the story behind it.

I also had to keep it focused on the first team as the women's side and reserves both had some great success this season so it goes without saying that those snaps are important too.

Where can we find the rest of your work?

I post to social media. All my links are HERE.

Thanks Gareth- now who's next? Send you image- and your answers to the questions- to Ian at townsendaround@gmail.com and you'll see it here soon.
