Sometimes, it pays to be naughty!

Felixstowe players fines help the club and NHS Charity

Felixstowe and Walton United, perhaps like most clubs, have a player-led fining system for minor misdemeanours. Being late for training, forgetting items of clothing, admitting to being a fan of AFC Sudbury (we might have made that one up); every infraction comes with a financial penalty, and at the end of the season the cash goes on an event for the players. This year, however, with the idea of an event out of the question, the Seasiders squad decided that their money should be split, with half going to the club to help it through these troubled times, and the other half going to the 'NHS COVID-19 Staff Wellbeing Fund.’

What is rather astounding is that these fines came to fifteen hundred pounds, which will make a big difference to the club and the charity. Since then a donation from the Junior section (not based on fines!) and further donations have meant that the charity is receiving even more money, and you can read all about that here.

But it does beg one question. Exactly how much of a rule-breaker do you have to be to raise that kind of sum in fines? We'd like to see the list of rules- perhaps they include fines for using Lynx shower gel, listening to Kanye West, and having an offensive car? If anyone can send the list, we'd love to see it!

Well done to the players at the Goldstar Ground for their generosity.
