Southall go level on points with the leaders- and Marlow get back to winning ways, and back into the top five

By Ian Townsend

South Central Wednesday had two games, six goals, and points for two of the promotion chasers

Two-one is becoming a favourite scoreline for Southall, who last night completed a third two-one victory in a row, and indeed a fifth consecutive victory, as they defeated Ashford Town to go level on points with leaders Chertsey Town. The All took a very early lead, and they had Jaden Thompson-Brissett to thank for it, as he kept his cool from the spot to deliver his twenty sixth goal of the season. The goal that eventually clinched victory arrived just before half time, and it saw Anthony O’Connor move into double figures for the campaign, but after the break the visiting Tangerines gave themselves hope, another spot kick being converted by Alexander Sami- the man who had been fouled to earn it- who scored his first Town goal on his third appearance. It seems that visiting keeper Harry Cant made a number of fine saves, but they weren’t enough to earn Town a point.

Town are seventeenth, with only one win from ten.

In Whyteleafe Marlow may have been short on confidence after three consecutive defeats, but hosts Sutton Common Rovers were comprehensively undone by a second half onslaught. The first half was devoid of goals, but the second half was only two minutes old before Dawid Rogalski found his shooting boots for the twenty third time this season, and over the next quarter of an hour the visitors put the game to bed. Kai Hamilton-Olise made it two on fifty six minutes, and shortly afterwards Khalid Simmo bagged another. Three-nil was the final score, Marlow up to fifth, five points behind fourth place Leatherhead with two games in hand.

Rovers are fifteenth, and have gone eight matches without a win.
