Sparks sign a Rook

South Park announce the arrival of Lewis from Lewes

Shortly before yesterday's pulsating four-four draw with Staines Town, South Park announced the arrival of much-travelled Lewes midfielder Merrick James-Lewes. Merrick almost joined the club last month before the Rooks came calling, but finally made his debut as a second half substitute yesterday.

Merrick came through the youth ranks at Southend United, and since then has played for a large number of clubs, amongst them Carshalton Athletic, Bishop's Stortford, Canvey Island, Cray Wanderers, Staines Town, Grays Athletic, Maldon and Tiptree, Heybridge Swifts, Merstham, Hendon and Herne Bay. He impressed the Rooks whilst playing against them for the Sparks in a pre-season friendly, and has made six appearances in a Lewes shirt this season, the last as a substitute in the draw with Bowers and Pitsea on October 6th.
