Heybridge Swifts have announced that former Southend United and Canvey Island boss Steve Tilson is the new Assistant Manager to Julian Dicks at Scraley Road.
Tilson became a Southend legend as a player, making almost to hundred and fifty appearances as part of a side which experienced two promotions. He left the Shrimpers to play for Canvey Island, with almost one hundred and fifty appearances there, before leaving to work full time in coaching roles at Roots Hall. These eventually led to him being appointed manager, and he led the club to two promotions and was in charge for seven years.
He also managed Lincoln City and, of course, had a spell in charge of Canvey Island. Whilst a player, and prior to his Southend days, he turned out for Witham Town and Basildon United.
He replaces Karl Duguid, who announced his departure a few days ago to 'explore other football avenues.'
