Stoke news!

Don't worry, that's Basingstoke- we aren't sending you to the Potteries on a cold Tuesday night...

We just thought we'd take the time to bring you up to date with the Basingstoke Town signings over the past few days.

Daryl Wollers was today's announcement. The defender, who joined the club at the start of last season, previously played for Arlesford, Bognor Regis Town, Littlehampton Town and Pagham. He was Bognor's Supporters Club Player of the season in 2013-14. Dan Brownlie commented:

“It’s great to have Daryl back with us. He was our first signing last year where – in truth, he took a gamble on us. At that stage its worth remembering we had no official home and we were coming off the back of a relegation scrap – so his commitment to us was a bit of a game changer as it gave confidence to others that we eventually signed.”

Announced yesterday were D’andre Brown and Lloyd Snell, both of whom came through the Academy at the club. Read more on their signings here.

Finally, at the rear end of last week the club announced that defender Aidan Lewis was staying on. Aidan previously turned out for AFC Totton, Thatcham Town and Didcot Town, and his manager explained:

“Aidan made this decision really easy for us. He made it clear he wanted to re-sign and it goes without saying that we wanted him to return. Anyone who understands the game will appreciate that he’s a really talented defender who has a great depth of understanding, not just of his own role but of those around him. You often see him having chats with some of our younger players about how they can improve their game. His value goes far beyond the pitch. Aidan’s been working hard over the summer to get himself as fit as possible and we’ll work with him over pre-season to ensure we can get the best out of him.”
