Stuart appoints his number two

New Grays Athletic manager Jamie Stuart has appointed Keith Levett as his number two for the 2016-17 Ryman League season.

A highly respected coach who has worked at Welling United where he was also academy director, Levett was named by Blues legend Stuart on Thursday, two weeks after he succeeded former manager Mark Bentley.

Stuart won the FA Trophy twice with the Blues in 2005 and 2006 and he believes Levett's knowledge and experience will be a big boost as he returns to manage the Essex side. As well as running a sports coaching academy, Levett has managed Sevenoaks and knows the Ryman well after a spell as assistant manager of Chatham Town.

Stuart, 39, said: “It has been a hard decision selecting my assistant as there were a number of people interested in coming to work with me. However, I know Keith Levett really well and we have that level of trust which I feel you need to make a great partnership.

“Keith is a very technical coach in terms of his analytical and statistical knowledge and I know that myself and the team will benefit from his skills and input."

He added:"I am also looking to bring in a couple of senior players in the coming weeks that can help us further on the coaching side.”

Levett, pictured, said: “I am excited about the opportunity to work with Jamie Stuart. Grays Athletic is a club with a great history and I feel fortunate to be part of it going forward."
