Summers Lane Blues the latest to turn to crowdfunding

Wingate and Finchley ask for help

Isthmian Premier Division side Wingate & Finchley have become the latest club to ask for financial help from their supporters, as they attempt to navigate their way through the coronavirus crisis. The Blues have offered a number of incentives to those prepared to dip into their pockets, including prize draw entry, having your name on a new 'Hall of Fame,' a personalised thank you from Manager Spencer Knight or club record appearance-maker Ahmet Rifat, a mascot and hospitality package, a season ticket/awards night package, a trip to a match on the team coach alongside the manager- and much, much more, as they say on all those adverts where the advertisers are running out of time!

The club explain:

'We are aiming to raise £10,000 to assist Wingate & Finchley Football Club. That money will go towards us sustaining our community-led football projects, improving the services we currently provide and will go a small way towards changing lives and bringing positivity to what has been a tough time for everyone.

Coronovirus has had a terrible impact on society as a whole and as a football club we are sadly not immune to its effects. Unfortunately significant reductions to our key revenue streams has hit us hard, as we strive to continue to give back to the local community.

When the season suddenly came to a halt, the income from both football and the use of our amazing facilities also ended. Unfortunately, the emergency funding by the Football Association and Premier League to lower levels of football have only found their way to National League clubs and above - it has not come lower down the Pyramid (ie to our level) and that leaves us in a difficult financial position. We are therefore appealing to our fans, the local community and the non-league family to help us bridge the financial losses we are suffering.'
