Supporters Predictions 22-23: The Final Outcome- South Central Division

By Ian Townsend

You've read their thoughts- now see their final predicted table. We start with the Pitching In Isthmian South Central

During the past month, supporters answering questions for the Pitching In Isthmian Supporters Predictions feature have also been asked to predict the finishing positions of every club in the Division containing their team. We’ve already published their views on just about everything you can think of, and now we have the moment that causes the most pre-season controversy- the final predicted tables. You can be sure that these will be pinned on many a dressing room wall this weekend, particularly at those clubs predicted to struggle!

We’re going to start with the Pitching In Isthmian South Central Division.

The departure of Bracknell Town, who- let’s be fair- ran away with last season’s title makes this season much more difficult to call. You predicted a tussle between Leatherhead, Chertsey Town and Basingstoke Town in the battle to be champions, and your predictions were so close that there was only a point between first and third, and the predicted champions are ‘crowned’ only on the basis of being predicted to finish first by one more person than the runners up!

So stand up the Tanners, who you expect to be promoted at the first attempt- whilst Chertsey Town and Basingstoke Town complete the top three.

You expect the play off places to be made up by Walton & Hersham, newly promoted back to our ranks, and Bedfont Sports, our surprise package from last season.

You think that Merstham and Hanworth Villa’s promotion hopes will fall at the final hurdle.

At the other end of the table, you were quite sure that Sutton Common Rovers and Southall would finish in the bottom two and succumb to automatic relegation. Above your apparently doomed duo, you placed Ashford Town and Northwood in the relegation play off positions- having to fight to stay up with a match against a second placed Step Five side.

So there you have it! Now, time for our sides to get out there are prove our predictors right- or, as is most likely, wrong!

We’d just like to say a big thank you to all those who participated- a record number this year. This has been the sixth pre-season we have run these features, and they have never been more popular- either for participants or for those who enjoy reading them. Football is, more than anything, about supporters- and our league is lucky enough to be blessed with some of the very best. Have a marvellous season, which we hope brings you everything you wanted for your club.
