Swans targetting second success

By David Watters

The next generation of stars at Staines Town are hoping to lift the Ryman League's Lucas Fettes Youth Cup for the second time in the club's history on Thursday night.

The Swans, winners of the U18s competition in 2013, are taking on Kent's Ashford United on the new 3G surface at Sutton United's Gander Green Lane in a 7.30pm kick-off.

Brentwood Town needed extra-time to beat Whyteleafe 2-1 in the final at the same venue last season.

First staged in 1977 as the Berger Isthmian Youth Cup, the Swans are aiming to become one of the competition's most successful clubs by joining Worthing, Woking and Sutton United who have all won it on two occasions.
