Swans tell a tale of woe

Staines Town, in dispute with their landlords, set out their grievances and offer to purchase the freehold- to remove a situation which is threatening their future

Staines Town have not been having the best of times of late, but a statement and two videos released by the club suggest clearly that what happens on the pitch is being dramatically affected by events off it.

In the videos- which you can find by following the link below- the club first suggest that their landlords, Thames Club, are letting down their own shareholders, before then moving on to explain how their relationship with Thames Club has deteriorated, alleging that they have faced 'aggression and pressure,' that they have been denied the chance to create revenue at Wheatsheaf Park, have seen supporters- and players- parking rights curtailed, have had their accommodation moved away from the pitch to a location unsuitable and difficult to access to anyone with mobility difficulties, and have seen their changing and medical facilities left in unsuitable condition without any effective repair.

The first video- which is very long and detailed- explains who Thames Club and their owning trust, Downing LLP, are, and how they operate. The second, which is somewhat shorter, graphically illustrates with footage and commentary the difficulties the club are facing and the difficulties in their relationship with Thames Club.

The solution proposed by the club owners is that they purchase the freehold to the land at Wheatsheaf Lane, in order that they can then give the club a 999 year lease. The image which you can see attached, and which is taken directly from the second video, details what the club see as the way forward.

The club are asking supporters and the local community to 'spread the word and share these presentations to both local and national press along with local council representatives and MP’s.' You can find them HERE.

You can contact the club via social media- their Facebook Page can be found here and their Twitter Page here.
