Terrors get planning boost

Application to build affordable homes and improve sporting facilities passes its first hurdle

Tooting & Mitcham Sports and Leisure Ltd submitted planning back in December for the erection of an accommodation block comprising of 77 new affordable homes to be based at the front of the site. The profits derived from the accommodation block will be reinvested into the facility to provide new sporting facilities for the local community- see image below for more details.

The plan to enhance the facilities at Imperial Fields has been the vision of the organisation since they first published their Master Plan in 2008. Today they are one step closer to completing their vision after Merton Councillors last night voted in favour of approving the planning application allowing it to move to the next stage.

A spokesperson for Tooting & Mitcham Sports and Leisure Ltd said: “It was great to get the support of the officers and the councillors to move our plans to the next stage and we look forward to bringing our vision for the site to reality and providing much needed enhanced sporting facilities to the area”.
