The Motormen continue to motor

Another victory for Redbridge makes it five wins from six, as they complete an Enfield double

Enfield welcomed Redbridge to the R&D Advisors Stadium in Pitching In Isthmian North hoping that their luck would change- but although the match was close, the E’s winless run stretched to fifteen matches as the travelling Motormen got the only goal. The E’s hadn't managed a victory since January 27th, whilst their visitors had only two defeats from ten, had won four of their last five, and- of course- also lifted the Essex Senior Cup a few weeks ago, so were full of confidence.

For seventy four minutes the match was goalless, and then the decisive moment arrived. Louie Johnson grabbed a hat trick in his sides previous match at Ipswich Wanderers, and obviously enjoyed scoring his first goals for the club this season as he decided to quickly add another- although there was a little luck about this one. His shot didn’t have a great deal of power, but it took a wicked deflection which entirely wrong-footed George Edgworth in the Enfield goal, and that was enough to complete a double for the Motormen.

Redbridge are up to twelfth, whilst the E’s are in eighteenth- and will finish there. Enfield welcome the only side below them, relegated Stowmarket Town, on Saturday- whilst Redbridge play host to promotion chasing Bury Town, who have their eyes on second place but could end up as low as fifth if they lose!
