Three for the Nuts and Bolts

Lanre Azeez, Jacob Russell and Fyn Rutherford sign on at Ashford United

Ashford United have announced a triple-capture, as they continue their preparations for the 2022-23 Pitching In Isthmian South East campaign.

The title hopefuls have brought in Lanre Azeez, Jacob Russell and Finn Rutherford.

Lanre originally broke in to the senior game at Ebbsfleet United, and has played for Margate, Thamesmead Town, Merstham, Whyteleafe and most recently Hastings United at our level. He started last season with our Isthmian South East title winners, making eleven appearances before dropping down a level to play for Glebe. He counts Maidenhead United, Welling United and Havant & waterlooville amongst his other clubs.

Jacob, a goalkeeper, was announced as a new signing by Cray Wanderers only a few weeks ago, so it seems that there has been a speedy parting of the ways. He was an ever-present for Ramsgate last season, making forty five appearances. That followed three appearances just before the previous season came to a rather premature end. Highly rated, he came through the Crystal Palace youth system, playing Under 18 and Under 23 football before joining the Rams, at first on loan and then later, permanently.

Forward Fyn comes in on a dual-registration deal from Tonbridge Angels, where he signed on only last month. he made fifteen appearances for Margate last season, scoring in a Kent Senior Cup tie against Gillingham, who invited him for a trial.
