The 17-year-old graduate of the Marketmen academy was on trial at the Championship outfit this week after earning a regular berth in Mark Morsley's first-team squad this season.
Having worked with the midfielder since arriving in the summer, assistant manager Richard Wilkins told buryfreepress.co.uk on Friday that he believes Booth has the skill set to make a real impression.
He said: “He has got a lot of good attributes which will hold him in good stead. The one major asset he has is pace, which is a big thing to possess. Max certainly has all the credentials to go far, be it as a professional or higher up the Non-League pyramid.”
Booth, whose scored once in two starts and five substitute appearances so far after recently signing a two-year deal, pictured, isn’t the first Needham Market academy scholar to spend time with the Blues at Portman Road recently.
Defender Keiran Morphew spent two spells on trial at Portman Road at the end of last season. Despite impressing Tractor Boys manager Mick McCarthy while playing in the U21s, he was not offered terms.
* Chelsea legend Ron 'Chopper' Harris is set to entertain fans at Bloomfields on Friday 21 October as the guest of honour at the Marketmen's latest sportsmen's night.
