Tuesday's Premier Division review

Ryman League Premier Division

AFC Hornchurch were looking to move to the top of the Ryman Premier table when they hosted lower mid-table Harrow Borough on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Unfortunately for the Urchins, Harrow had other ideas and produced their best performance of the season so far to hold on to win 4-2.

And Borough came back to win. Having seen their two-goal lead pegged back, they scored two more to take three points away from Bridge Avenue for the first time in seven attempts.

Boro got off to a great start when Steve Butterworth put them ahead from the spot after eight minutes and Victor Osobu doubled the visitors' lead soon afterwards – an advantage they held until six minutes into the second period when George Purcell reduced the arrears.

The Urchins were back on level terms when Purcell equalised on 70 minutes but Harrow's Danny Leach gave them the lead again from a 78th minute corner before substitute Simeon Akinola fired home their fourth two minutes later.

Elsewhere, Canvey Island beat Grays 1-0 at home thanks to a 64th minute goal from Sheldon Sellears while Lewes were looking for a top five spot as they made the trek to Suffolk to take on Bury Town at Ram Meadow.

They fell a goal behind after 28 minutes through Russell Short but were back on level terms on 68 minutes when Jack Dixon scored. A point would have been fair but they were eventually beaten in the seventh minute of stoppage time when Ryan Semple popped up with a winner for the Blues.

Wingate & Finchley moved into eleventh place in the table after a comportable 3-0 win at the Queen Eliszabeth II Stadium against Enfield Town.

Town conceded two early second half strikes to effectively kill off the game after Spencer McCall had scored for the visitors from the spot on 33 minutes. Former Town player Mark Henry struck soon after the restart and minutes later Ahmet Rifat sealed the result with a deft chip for the third and final goal.
