Luke Callander grabbed a hat-trick and Michael Cheek a brace as Heybridge Swifts stormed to a 7-0 win over Erith & Belvedere on Tuesday night.

Swifts chalked up another three points to catch runaway leaders VCD Athletic with a goal each from the pair before the break with Sam Bantick adding a third. Reece Morgan opened the hosts' second half account within two minutes of the restart before Callander scored twice in quick succession soon after the hour mark.

Four other games were played in midweek and Thurrock forced their way further into top five contention with a business like 1-0 win at Needham Market, Lewis Clark netting the only goal of the game on 33 minutes.

Harlow Town are still climbing too after a late smash and grab raid at Chatham, the Hawks winning 2-0 with goals from Junior Dadson and Alex Read deep into time added on at the end.

Maldon and Tiptree and Witham Town have both been going well but fought out a 1-1 stalemate at the Wallace Binder Ground. Lewis Godbold put the visitors ahead after seven minutes before Bradley Hunter rescued a point seven minutes into the second half.

AFC Sudbury, halfway through a run of eight consecutive away games, took a point from Tilbury after Scott Mitchell found an equaliser with 20 minutes to go to Rimmel Daniel's strike for the Dockers nine minute into the second half.
