A solitary goal immediately after half-time from Xavier Vidal secured a first win in eight games for second-placed Dulwich Hamlet at home to Bury Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Peter Adeniyi had to be alert to hook the ball off the line and the visitors` Joe Whight saw his header come back off the post. Bury poured forward in search of an equaliser but Dulwich held out to enhance their play-off hopes.

Hamlet are level on points with third-placed AFC Hornchurch, who also won 1-0 against bottom-markers Carshalton Athletic, now almost down Stefan Payne scored the only goal at Colston Avenue in the 34th minute.

Wingate & Finchley and Margate shared a goalless draw, although the match was more tense and exciting than the scoreline suggests.

The home side needed the point to edge six points clear of the chasing pack, and both sides went for the win but could not break through.

East Thurrock United occupy the final relegation spot after suffering a `six-pointer` defeat at home to a Harrow Borough side now twelve points clear of the bottom four.

Victor Obosu gave Boro a ninth minute lead, only for Sam Higgins to level from the penalty spot after 27 minutes. Marc Charles-Smith restored the visitors` lead just a couple of minutes later and Jake Gilbert added a third a minute before half-time.

Enfield Town remain in deep trouble, just a point above East Thurrock on level games, after a 2-0 defeat at the Beveree by Hampton & Richmond Borough.

And the Beavers had to defend their 2-0 lead, given to them with goals from Dave Tarpey after 10 minutes and Charlie Moone two minutes later, with ten-men for three-quarters of the game after Tommy Brewer was dismissed.

Tuesday`s other game saw Hendon maintain an outside interest in the play-off places after a good 2-0 win at the Dripping Pan against Lewes.

Leon Smith bagged a brace for the Greens, opening the scoring from the spot after 21 minutes and then adding a second on 66 minutes.
