Ryman League Premier Division

In one of four games in the Ryman League's Premier Division on Tuesday night, Harrow Borough gained a crucial 3-2 victory over Leatherhead at Ealsmead to move four points away from the drop zone, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Harrow, hammered 5-0 at Enfield Town last Saturday, needed a morale-booster, and got it when Nik Salapatas put them in front after 10 minutes. But three minutes before half-time Vasieleious Karagiannis equalised for the Tanners to send the sides in all-square at the break.

Sekou Kaba restored Boro`s lead four minutes after the restart but it lasted barely three minutes as half-time sub Mark Nwokeji responded. However, with 18 minutes to go Marc Charles-Smith popped up to win it for Dave Anderson`s men.

Peacehaven & Telscombe went down to their fourth consecutive defeat at the Queen Elizabeth II stadium to the side that hit Harrow for five last weekend, Enfield Town.

The teams went into the half-time break all square at 0-0, although the Magpies did have the ball in the net but it was chalked off by the referee. On the 47th minute, Enfield were awarded a corner and the decisive goal was scored from the corner by Michael Kalu.

East Thurrock United leap-frogged hosts Canvey Island into tenth place in the table after a 2-1 success.

Reece Harris gave the visiting Rocks a 10th minute lead that Joe Carter cancelled out right on half-time. But Simon Preddie gave East Thurrock victory when he made it 2-1 after 68 minutes.

The other game between struggling AFC Hornchurch and play-off chasing Metropolitan Police ended all-square at 2-2 at Bridge Road.

Dean Bown put the Met in front after just six minutes before George Purcell equalised for the Urchins on the half-hour mark. Then, three minutes after the break, Martin Tuohy gave the home side the lead but the Met pulled back on level terms with a second for Bown with 14 minutes remaining.
