Turner and Brefo new at the Rams

Two Ramsgate debutants, as Joe Turner and Alex Brefo strengthen their squad

Ramsgate added two new faces to their squad as they defeated Broadbridge Heath- narrowly- on Saturday, and both players have no shortage of promotion experience, nor any shortage of experience at a higher level.

Midfielder/forward Joe Turner moves back to Kent after spending time in Pitching In Southern Premier with AFC Totton. He joined the Stags in November, so wasn't part of the side defeated by the Rams in the FA Cup in October, but of course will be best known in these pastures for his magnificent career with Tonbridge Angels. In six years with Angels, Joe lit up our Premier Division- and, following Angels promotion, National League South- making two hundred and sixty one appearances and scoring sixty seven goals whilst contributing 54 assists. He won award after award at the club, was part of our Team of the Year, and- of course- will now be going head to head with his former boss Steve McKimm in the race for Pitching In Isthmian South East promotion!

Prior to his time with Angels he was with Kingstonian, spent some time in New Zealand, and also played for both Met Police and Wealdstone.

Alex Brefo, a defender, returns for another shot at South East promotion after starting the campaign with Pitching In Isthmian Premier promotion chasers Chatham Town. He made twenty five appearances for the Chats after signing in the summer.

Alex spent last season with Hastings United, and was a big part of their Premier Division success, ending the campaign with forty seven appearances and two goals. He was previously with Cray Valley PM, making twenty five appearances as his side reached the Play Off Semi-Finals in Pitching In Isthmian South East at the end of 21-22.

He previously played for Phoenix Sports, and for South Park, for who he turned out eight times- scoring one goal- during the 2020-21 season (all two months of it), after making his Sparks debut just before the previous campaign crashed to an early halt.

Alex is a Chelsea supporter- but he can't be all bad! Prior to joining our ranks he was on the bench five times for National League Bromley, where he played in their Academy.
