Two new arrivals at Moatside

Jones and Lamont arrive at Merstham

Merstham announced two new signings yesterday- both of whom played in the 2-2 draw with Bishop's Stortford on Saturday.

The first arrival headed along the A27 and up the A23 from Worthing. Jalen Jones, a former Crystal Palace youth player, actually played for Merstham prior to his move to Woodside Road, making five appearances. He signed for Worthing in January and was an immediate success, making twenty two appearances and even scoring in three of his first four- which given he was playing in defence was quite a feat. He had a trial with National League South side Dartford in the summer, but returned to the Mackerel Men and started every game until their FA Cup defeat against St Albans City in mid September, since when he's been generally on the bench.

The second arrival also comes from the seaside, but a rather different seaside, as Aaron Lamont travels up from Ramsgate. A Midfielder, he has made twenty two appearances for the Rams this season after joining from Kingstonian and who previously played for Truro City and Hampton and Richmond Borough, made forty one appearances for the K's last season. He actually signed for Braintree Town in the June, but that obviously didn't work out as he was a Ram by August.
