Uhlsport Golden Gloves Awards- November 2023

By Ian Townsend

Here are the FIVE winners of latest Golden Gloves Awards- sponsored by the some of the best goalkeeping equipment in the world, provided by uhlsport

Remember, these awards are given on the basis of league matches only- and clubs must have played three of those to qualify! Here are our November winners.

Premier Division

It’s rather unsurprising that we’re off to Hornchurch, unsurprising because the Urchins didn’t concede a single league goal during November, whilst winning each of their matches- an aggregate score across the month of fourteen-nil! Standing confidently between the sticks on each occasion was Joe Wright, so our congratulations go to Joe and his superb defence.

North Division

November was a fine month for Brentwood Town. The Blues picked up ten points from their four matches, kept three clean sheets, and conceded only one goal throughout, as Enfield, Grays Athletic and Wroxham were defeated. Only New Salamis Christos Batzelis managed to breach the Brentwood backline during that period, but sadly there’s no prize for that! There is a prize, however, for the fine goalkeeping shown by Blues keeper Melvin Minter, a lovely new pair of gloves, and he’ll have them in the very near future!

South Central Division

Raynes Park Vale keeper Billy Bishop picked up our award for October, and it was much deserved- so he’ll be able to relive that feeling of triumph because he’s won it again, although this time he’ll have to share it. Vale didn’t concede a single league goal during November, a month during which they scored six at the other end, and the form of Billy and his fine defence are one of the reasons why they are riding high in the upper echelons of the table.

On this occasion, however, Billy will have to move over a little so that another keeper can share the spotlight. Down the M3 Hartley Wintney provide the competition with an identical November, scoring six and keeping three clean sheets, wins over Northwood and Guernsey the highlights. The defence, marshalled by the calm presence of keeper Callum Coulter, has been superb- and it is no surprise that they take a share of our award. Congratulations Callum- and yes, you do get a pair of gloves to yourself, not just one glove each!

South East Division

Sittingbourne are having a fine season, and you may remember that last month the Brickies shared this award with Ramsgate. Well November brings a change- they get to have the award all to themselves!

October saw them concede only one league goal. November saw them concede two- but it took five matches for that to happen, which gives the Brickies a better average than the competition, mainly due to their clean sheets against Ashford United, Chichester City and Lancing. Bobby Mason was the man directing the defence and keeping out almost everything fired in his direction, and he will receive another fine pair of gloves and our congratulations.

Thanks to uhlsport for sponsoring our Golden Gloves awards.
