Vickers make it four wins from four- whilst Hastings find top gear

By Ian Townsend

Fourteen of our sides kicked off in the South East Division last night, and thirteen found the net- some rather more than others!

VCD Athletic have had a superb start to the season, and continued that by walloping Chichester City at Oakwood last night to remain top of the table and hold on to their one hundred percent record. The visitors took the lead in the eleventh minute through Robert Hutchings, but that was as positive as things got, as Anthony Adesite equalised after nineteen minutes and in an eleven minute period after the restart Vickers added three more, Adesite with his second, Lea Dawson and Paul Vines getting two more.

Faversham Town remain unbeaten, and last night climbed to third place with an impressive win at previously unbeaten Cray Valley PM. Lewis Chambers gave the Lilywhites a very early lead, but an equaliser from Ade Adeyemo fourteen minutes from time seemed to have robbed them of three points- and then, in the very last minute, Emmanuel Chambers grabbed the winner.

East Grinstead Town spent much of last season in a relegation scrap with Ramsgate, but both sides have much loftier ambitions this time around. Two goals from Louie Theophanous and a third from Dan Thompson gave the hosts a commanding half time lead, and although Henry Arnold got one back for the Rams, Sean Clohessy made it four for the Wasps with eight minutes remaining, a result which sees them in fourth place. The Rams are fourteenth.

Hastings United have been struggling to find their shooting boots so far this season, but they found a rather stylish pair last night at Haywards Heath Town, smashing home five goals. Kenny Pogue got three of them- the last three, adding to Sam Adams first half double, whilst Nico Cotton got a consolation for the hosts on the hour, but it can’t have been much of a consolation after that hammering. United are up to ninth, Town are still looking for their first win.

Sittingbourne and Ashford United shared four goals equally on an entertaining night at Woodstock Park, Kane Rowland getting both for the Brickies, putting them ahead twice, whilst Ben Gorham and Bode Anidugbe got two equalisers for the Nuts and Bolts.

Burgess Hill Town got their first victory of the campaign, defeating Phoenix Sports two-nil. Both goals came after the break, Max Miller and Jordi Ndozid finding the net and moving the Hillians up to eleventh, two points behind their visitors. Headline image from Chris Neal- find the rest here.

Finally, Whitstable Town moved up to eighth, two late, late goals grabbing victory from the jaws of defeat at Three Bridges. Brannon ONeill and Tom Tolfrey put the hosts two up before Aaron Millbank got one back on the stroke of half time, and then two goals in the last minute- one from Millbank and a winner from Muhammed Cham- sent the Oysterboys home happy.
