What happened to the lederhosen!

By David Watters

Brexit was the last thing on the minds of Bury Town's supporters on the final Saturday of the Ryman League season with members of the club's German fan club in town.

Thanks to links forged by Blues supporter David Harrison, who has followed Monchengladbach for many years, 12 members of Us d’r Lammeng, a Borussia Monchengladbach fan club from the Leverkusen area, flew into Stanstead on Friday night for the 1-1 draw with AFC Hornchurch at Ram Meadow.

Harrison and his partner Kerry Jones are both season tickets holders at the German giants and members of Us d’r Lammeng who adopted the Blues as their English Non-League club and boast more than 50 members including many from Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.

Over at the weekend to celebrate the club's 10th anniversary by taking in a Ryman North fixture, the Germans adorned in specially designed t-shirts of different Bury stars designed by leading football website CultZeros.co.uk.

A Blues spokesman said: "It has always been a wish that Us d’r Lammeng make a visit to Ram Meadow for a Bury Town fixture, although some have already been to an away game in recent years.

"The group enjoyed the 1-1 draw with AFC Hornchurch, with Ollie Hughes drawing the Blues level in the second half. It is now hoped that the friendship between the clubs will continue to grow in the years to come with many more visits."
