Wood returns to Wands

Winger is back at Hayes Lane

Cray Wanderers have announced the return to the club of a player who left them best part of two decades ago and went on to much bigger things, winger Sam Wood.

When Sam left the Wands in 2005 he effectively went nowhere, as he remained at Hayes Lane with Bromley, where he was spotted with Brentford and turned professional. His time with the Bees saw him win the 2008-09 League Two title, and he then went on to play for Rotherham United and Wycombe Wanderers, where he made almost two hundred appearances.

After leaving the two blues he moved back into non league, featuring for Eastleigh, returning to Bromley and finally heading to Dover Athletic, and he made his second Wands debut in their three-two comeback win at Potters Bar Town in midweek.
