By Ian Townsend

Geoff Foster and Ron King match at 1PM, featuring many former Woods heroes

Northwood will today host a celebration of the work of two club stalwarts, Geoff Foster and Ron King.

The club website explains:

'Geoff Foster is a former Northwood Vice-Chairman and current Life Member who ran various youth teams in Sunday football and the Allied Counties League before having several separate spells as Manager of the Woods Reserves side in the old Suburban League days, while Ron King also ran several youth sides at the club while then assisting Foster in running the second team sides.

Around 40 of their former players are keen to take part in the nostalgic match on Sunday including plenty who went on to make first team appearances for the Woods, such as Kevin Dobson, John Parsons, Richard Morton, James Achille, Kevin Beckles, Dave Baker, Adam Holden, Ryan Ambler, Peter Lawrence, Ben Miles, Matt Ward, Liam O'Keefe and Paul Page who is remembered for scoring on his debut in a 1-1 midweek draw at Canvey Island!

The game kicks-off at 1pm and everyone is welcome to pop down to watch the game, have a few drinks and swap memories of those old-days!

Other former players attending: Alex Butcher, Oliver James, Phil Spires, Simon Morley, Lee Roper, Lee Morgan, Steven Peace, Kevin Tidd, Pat O'Toole, Tony King, Danny Williams, Mitch Elliott, Daniel Egan, Stuart McMahon, Joel Mahatsari, Chris Reidy, John Sargent, Damian Stalley, Neil Russell-Smith, Tim Nye, Peter Grosse, Phil Walker, Ryan Upton, Lloyd Thompson, Pat Tidd, Mattie Rockell and Jay Breen.'
