Worthing get revenge- and go seven clear once more

By Ian Townsend

Bognor and Worthing attract two thousand two hundred fans to Nyewood Lane- the the visitors triumph. Read- and watch- here.

On August Bank Holiday Monday Bognor Regis Town shocked title-favourites Worthing by defeating them on their own patch- but yesterday the Mackerel Men got their revenge in style, coming from behind to defeat the Rocks at Nyewood Lane to go seven points clear at the top of the Pitching In Isthmian Premier.

The Rocks, who at kick off yesterday had the same number of league defeats as their visitors but were seventeen points behind them courtesy of nine draws, broke the deadlock in the nineteenth minute through Jordy Mongoy- who lifted the ball over Worthing keeper Harrison Male into the back of the net.

The Mackerel Men were level ten minutes before the break, Callum Kealy firing home from an Ollie Pearce cross.

Former Bognor favourite Pearce was always going to be at the centre of proceedings, and he added to the twenty two goals he'd already scored this season by getting number twenty three from the spot on sixty four minutes, after being upended and awarded a penalty. He made sure of all three points with goal twenty four nine minutes later, one a close range finish.
