Jamie Godbold is looking forward to leading AFC Sudbury's bid for promotion into the Ryman League's top flight next season from the start after signing a new two year deal.

Goldbold, pictured, and his number two Andy Reynolds agreed new deals to remain at the King's Marsh Stadium until the end of the 2016-17 campaign over the weekend.

Former Lowestoft Town captain Godbold stood down at Eastern Counties League Kirkley & Pakefield in January to succeed David Batch after he left midway through the Ryman North season to take the helm at Evo-Stik League Southern St Neots Town.

Along with Reynolds, a former Lowestoft Town and Ipswich Town goalkeeper who was on the bench for the latter’s 2005 FA Youth Cup triumph, after picking up the baton the duo guided the Yellows to a third place finish and play-off spot.

After losing out in the play-offs semi-finals to Brentwood Town, the pair are now looking forward to going again and working closely with director of football Danny Laws, the club's former manager who is also heading the new AFC Sudbury Academy.

Officials believe Goldbold and his trusted assistant can build on their early success and bring more exciting young talent through after the big impression they've made on the club's players and supporters since arriving.

In a statement released by the Yellows on Sunday, Godbold said: "I am delighted to extend my stay at AFC Sudbury for a further two years and hope to bring the success the club deserves. It's an exciting time for the club, with news of the new 3G pitch to be installed together with the launch of the academy.

"We have some fantastic people involved at the club throughout all levels, a superb bunch of fans, and currently a great crop of players, and I am extremely proud that the club want me to lead the club through such exciting times."
