Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Ashford United

Ashford United supporter Benn Phillips looks forward to the new season- and has faith in Gary Alexander to bring the good times back to Homelands

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Benn can tell you all you could possibly want to know about the high quality Nuts and Bolts found in the Ashford area!

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Benn and friends in celebratory pose!

Benn and friends in celebratory pose!

My favourite moment from last season would have to be the away trip to Guernsey. Despite the 1-1 draw, having the players flight grounded due to the fog meant they could join us for a night on the town.

2. And your worst moment?

I haven't really got a bad moment, but I suppose the 9-1 drubbing away to Cray Wanderers wasn’t much fun!

3. How will you do this season?

A lot better than last season. Gaz (manager Gary Alexander) has brought in some very good signings- and with his leadership and past playing experience who knows, we may even challenge for the title!!

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Any of the Kent derbies- and of course Guernsey away. A lot of people who didn’t fly out the last time have said they are coming this time around.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

There are a few I really like, but I would say Chipstead or Molesey.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Last season it was Hythe Town as they are our local neighbours, but our main rivals this time will be Sevenoaks Town. There is a bit of bad blood between the two sides.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Talk to our supporters, we are a good bunch and will always have a sing song with you in the bar after a game- no matter what the result is.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

From memory I'd have to say Stuart "He Scored 7” Zanone. Great striker and a nice guy off the pitch too.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Hastings United, Ashford United, Cray Wanderers, Sittingbourne, Whyteleafe
