Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Felixstowe and Walton United

Barry Grossmith takes us on a trip to the seaside, and hopes that we keep his words a secret from the people of Coggeshall.

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Barry Grossmith represents Felixstowe and Walton United- and takes a look back at a wonderful season past, looks forward to visiting Aveley, and disparages the dress sense of a certain Dan (Denzel) Davis.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

We've been told this is the Seasiders first team reporting back for pre-season. Sadly we think it's the reserves!

Playing Coggeshall at home in front of 1,541 people! It was an amazing evening for a top of the table clash. OK, so we lost but it was a brilliant night for the club.

2. And your worst moment?

Losing away to Ipswich Wanderers on Boxing Day. We went there top of the table and Ipswich Wanderers were stuck in the relegation zone. No matter how hard we tried we couldn’t get past their keeper that day. Still, not to worry, we signed their keeper at the end of the season!

3. How will you do this season?

In our joint manager Ian “Watty” Watson’s words, “we’re not here just to make up the numbers” We’ve made some exciting summer signings and, personally, I would expect at least a mid table finish. And who knows…..? Maybe an outside shot at the play offs?

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Very much looking forward to meeting Coggeshall again and my home town of Barking FC. Our first fixture in The Bostik North is at home to Suffolk rivals Bury Town. Hopefully that will give us some indication of what we will be up against this season.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Clearly we can’t comment on the Bostik North grounds because we only know two of them. That will be Coggeshall and ourselves. We prefer our place! Joking apart, Aveley’s ground looks rather posh so looking forward to that.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Has to be Coggeshall really. But don’t tell them that!

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

If the weather is nice and you can get here early enough, check out the seafront (It’s only a fifteen minute walk away) first. Parking isn’t usually a problem. When the car park is full, use residential parking.

Check out Seasiders TV before you come and on the day find Carole if you fancy one minute of fame as part of our post match report.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Having only been involved at Felixstowe for a season and a half I can only mention current players. So it has to be Dan (Denzel) Davis for his enthusiasm and sense of humour. This doesn’t stretch to his taste in music or dress sense however. Oh, and I like the way he eats strikers for breakfast. (He doesn’t really!)

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Canvey Island, Bowers & Pitsea, Heybridge Swifts, Aveley and Felixstowe.
