Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: South Park

Robert Battams takes us to Reigate, home of Mick Sullivan and his Sparks!

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Robert Battams hopes that the new signings will turn out to be bright Sparks, as he looks forward to a first South Central Division campaign.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Sittingbourne 0 South Park 3

Arrived at the ground just before kick off in the drizzly rain to find we had no recognized goalkeeper, an outfield player taking his position between the sticks. As usual the team pulled together to protect the non-keeper, and proceeded to dominate the game, scoring 3 goals and concerning none. An excellent performance.

2. And your worst moment?

Merstham 6 South Park 0

Surrey Senior Cup Semi Final. Having progressed to our 2nd cup semi final in 2 seasons it was very disappointing to lose by such a big score.

3. How will you do this season?

It has been all change at South Park during the summer. Manager Malcolm Porter stepped down at the end of last season and then every member of the first team squad moved on for a new challenge new clubs. We are therefore starting from scratch, with a new management team and a new squad of players. With so many changes it is going to be a big challenge and season of transition. It will take time, but I'm sure the new players will give their all and help us finish as high as possible.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Having moved from the South Division to the new South Central Division, we will be playing many teams we have not played before. It will therefore be a new experience against most teams. An interesting challenge to see how we match up with them.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

In view of the fact we are in a new division, most grounds will be new to me, so at this moment in time there would not be a favourite ground. From previous seasons my favourite would be Lewes.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Chipstead - local derby and the fact that they have signed several of our squad from last season. Could be interesting!

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Come down to the Surrey countryside on the outskirts of Reigate and enjoy a drink or two in our modern clubhouse. You will receive a very warm welcome. Snacks and drinks are available in the tea bar in the ground. Enjoy.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?
James (Wazza) Wastell- a much liked goalkeeper who played 300 plus games for the club. Always making spectacular saves and diving in where most keepers would not. A real favourite with the supporters and enjoyed the banter with the opposing fans behind his goal.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?
Tooting & Mitcham United, Hayes & Yeading Utd, and any three from the rest!
