Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Tilbury

By Ian Townsend

John Heath takes us on his annual tour of Tilbury.

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

John Heath gives us a tour of Tilbury. And looks forward to paying back Felixstowe- football supporters never forget, do they?!

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Tilbury from the air!

Tilbury from the air!

At the start of the season winning away and playing well at Canvey Island. In October the news that former player and Isthmian league cup winner 2009, Joe Keith would be taking over at Tilbury.

2. And your worst moment?

Losing 4-0 to Potters Bar in the FA Trophy. After the game manager Gary Henty and his management team resigned

3. How will you do this season?

The squad is looking reasonable, but pre season has been up and down. Looking forward to getting underway v AFC Sudbury.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

New league opponents at Felixstowe and Walton and Coggeshall Town. We do owe Felixstowe and Walton, as they knocked us out of the FA Cup 2 years ago.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Best ground is AFC Sudbury, but always have a good day v Maldon & Tiptree. The town and the football club always make us feel welcome.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Grays Athletic. We used to be able to see the floodlights of their old ground from the Chadwell end of our ground. Houses stand there now, which is such a shame. But the matchday rivalry has continued.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

On home Saturday match days our clubhouse opens at 11 am, there is always someone to have a friendly chat with and you will be made very welcome. Feel free to arrive early!

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Over the years I've had many favourites, especially from the seventies when local lads played for their local team and dare I say it money didn't talk!

More recently I loved to watch Chris Stowe, played a big part in the Isthmian League Cup Final that we won.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Bowers and Pitsea, Canvey Island, Heybridge Swifts, Aveley and Coggeshall Town.
