New manager knows all about winning titles

Dominic Di Paola has succeeded Terry White as the new manager of Hastings United.

The 33-year-old, pictured, left Sussex County League champions East Preston over the weekend to take over at the Ryman South's Arrows on Monday.

Di Paola won five trophies in the four years since his appointment at East Preston in 2011. His backroom team of assistant Jan Miller and coaches Ian Browne and Adam Westwood have moved with him to The Pilot Field.

In a statement announcing Di Paola's appointment, club officials also said supporters would get a chance to pose questions to their new manager at a fans forum after his first game in charge, Guernsey at home on Saturday.

The club said: "Di Paola emerged as the unanimous choice of an extended interview panel that included supporter representation. Although comparatively young, his track record of success is highly impressive, having earned five promotions and eight winners’ trophies in all over the course of his seven seasons in management.

"The board of directors truly believe that Di Paola’s arrival will signify an end to the managerial instability that has dented the club’s aspirations for so many years now, and hopes that supporters will join us in welcoming Dom and his backroom team to the club for what is hoped will be a highly successful future."

Following his appointment, Di Paolo, who kicked off his managerial at Worthing aged 25 and won promotion from the West Sussex League in his only second year in charge, told his followers on Twitter that he was 'honoured' to get the post after paying tribute to his former employers, players and fans, calling them all 'great people'.

After his record-breaking reign, East Preston described their outgoing manager as the best in the club's history. Chairman Terry Doyle said: "During his time at the club huge progress has been made and excellent football played. The move is a step up for Dom and he leaves with the best wishes and thanks from everyone at the club."
