Jammers leading lights leave

Skipper retires and leading lights leave for a professional career

Maldon & Tiptree were yesterday rocked by the news that three of their players were leaving the club.

Firstly, it was announced that top Bostik League goalscorer Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe was leaving to join Colchester United. Junior, who we hailed last month as the Bostik League Vardy, has scored thirty four goals in thirty four matches this season, twenty six of them in the League. Shortly afterwards it was confirmed that attacking midfielder Ryan Gondoh, himself the scorer of twelve goals during this campaign, was also joining the U's- both players signing eighteen month contracts.

Finally, and just as the dust was settling, club captain and longest serving player Matt Lock confirmed his retirement due to a change in his work commitments.
