Serial campaigners can't wait to start fundraising!

Ryman Premier Dulwich Hamlet aren't waiting for Non-League Day 2015 to show why they're widely hailed as one of football's leading community clubs.

With Gavin Rose's side away at Farnborough on Saturday 10 October, the south Londoners have announced they'll be urging fans 'to pay you want' a week earlier in aid of one local and one national charity when they welcome VCD Athletic to Champion Hill in the Ryman's top flight on October 3.

Hamlet were rewarded with a then record crowd of 2,856 on NLD 2014 when they hosted Hampton & Richmond Borough, pictured, with fans donating at the turnstiles instead of paying the regular admission price of £10. Rose is pictured introducing the Mayor of Southwark to the players at the match which raised more than £6000 for good causes.

Club officials say The British Heart Foundation and Hamlet's official charity in 2015-16, local mental health group Cooltan Arts, can start looking forward to donations thanks to the generosity of their owners at the Hadley Property Group who agreed to underwrite their efforts.

The BHF was chosen after two Hamlet supporters suffered serious health scares last season and the club's community spokesman Mishi Morath urged fans to spread the word after thanking their new owners for backing the initiative to embrace NLD 2015.

He said: “We had so much fun last year and we didn’t want to miss out this time around even though we’re playing away on the day. None of this would be possible without the foresight of our owners the Hadley Property Group.

"It is a big gamble, as match day costs still have to be covered, but our fans really publicised this event last season, our Supporters’ Trust were brilliant and we’re hoping for more of the same this season.”

Dulwich Hamlet chairman Jack Payne said: “We love holding special days like this. It’s our way of thanking both our fans and the wider local community for being so loyal to us over the last few years. It’s part of what makes the club so special.”

The Ryman League's clubs are among hundreds getting ready to back Non League Day for the sixth season running.

Following last year’s record-breaking event to promote football outside the professional game during the international break, Scottish Non-League clubs are also taking part for the first time ever.

Launched in 2010 as a social media experiment, NLD offers clubs a chance to promote themselves by running free or discounted entry to season tickets holders and others with the weekend off from following Football League and Premier League clubs.

Nationwide, NLD 2015 is raising funds and awareness for Prostrate Cancer UK again this season. NLD’s organisers are also renewing their annual link-up with Kick It Out with four showpiece promotional games promoting equality and challenging discrimination at all levels of the game.
