Up for the Cup

Draw details confirmed for Velocity Trophy, Youth League Cup and Women's Cup

The draws have been made for the Semi-Finals of the Velocity Trophy, the Youth League Cup sponsored by Save the Children, and the Women's Cup sponsored by Reposs.

In the Velocity Trophy we have the Quarter Finals still to play, but the Semi Final line up will look something like this:

AFC Hornchurch or Whitstable Town v Bracknell Town or Folkestone Invicta
Enfield Town or Burgess Hill Town v Merstham or Bishop's Stortford

Bishop's Stortford made it through to the Quarter Finals last night by defeating Wingate & Finchley at Summers Lane. Olly Miles and Ryan Charles put them 2-0 up by half time, and although Calvin Ekpiteta got one back thirteen minutes after the restart, a Jamie Cureton double and an own goal saw them through by an impressive 5-1 margin.

Of the clubs remaining in the competition, only Enfield Town made it as far as the Quarter Finals last season, the Towners losing at that stage to eventual runners-up Metropolitan Police.

In the Youth League Cup sponsored by Save the Children, the Semi-Final draw left us with the following:

Metropolitan Police v Lewes
Whyteleafe or Tooting & Mitcham United v Staines Town or Camberley Town

Lewes are the current holders, but face a tough challenge with Met Police currently top of their division. Camberley Town, who lost in the Semi-Finals to the Rooks last year, will need to defeat West Division rivals Staines Town to get to the last four once more, whilst Tooting & Mitcham Utd face a tough challenge with Whyteleafe going well in the East Division.

The Women's Cup sponsored by Reposs is unique in that three of the four Semi-Finalists are already confirmed. Here's the draw:

Ashford Town v Charlton Athletic
Tonbridge Angels or Enfield Town v Leyton Orient

Charlton Athletic were runners-up last season, losing to West Ham United in the Final, so will pose a tough challenge for Ashford Town- but given the Tangerines defeated Margate 10-2 in the Quarter Finals they are unlikely to be overawed by the prospect! Tonbridge Angels or Enfield Town- who play on January 9th- will face a Leyton Orient side who defeated Worthing 6-1 in their Quarter Final.

All Semi-Finals- in all of the competitions above- are scheduled to be completed by the end of January.
