Witham Town take over the world!

Witham superfan James Beardwell dominates the media- at home and abroad

On Saturday Witham Town travelled to Parkside to take on Grays Athletic, and after a rather forgettable performance left with nothing but their pride. Standing on the sidelines, as always, was the club's most recognisable face, Isthmian League Fan of the Year James Beardwell, doing what he always does- singing, cheering and generally giving his side total commitment and enthusiastic support for ninety minutes. The difference on this occasion was that someone in the crowd videoed him in mid song and posted it on social media- and in doing so created a perfect storm.

Since then James has appeared on almost every UK news platform, and the video has been shared thousands of times across the internet and watched almost one million times, and that figure is still rising. ITV Anglia, the BBC website, Match of the Day, BBC National Radio, a number of international websites and Social Media outlets have featured him, and he's done more interviews this week than Jennifer Lawrence, promoting both his club and our league magnificently. We'd just like to take this opportunity to thank him- once more- for his dedication to his club, our League, and Non League football in general- and for being a genuinely fabulous chap.

We feel there is little likelihood that you haven't seen the video, but just in case here it is, direct from ITV Anglia- along with James being interviewed by their evening news programme. And you won't have seen the last of him on your TV screen just yet, because on Friday evening he'll be featured by Sky Sports, who are planning to speak to him at the club's home match against Heybridge Swifts!

And remember, even if he thinks your support is very dire, James Beardwell will be on fire!
