A Bee for Gate

Margate have announced the signing of defender Ellis Ashworth from Pitching In isthmian North promotion chasers Basildon United.

Ellis joined the Bees last December, a second spell with the club. He went on to play twenty times last season, and has made another sixteen appearances this season- adding to the seventeen appearances he made during 21-22.

In between his two Basildon spells he spent a short time with Witham Town.

Ellis played for a while in the USA, first coming to our attention when he joined Harlow Town on a dual-registration deal from Royston Town. He only made two appearances for the Hawks.

He also apparently spent a brief time with East Thurrock United- although it must have been brief because we can't remember it- and turned out for Grays Athletic in pre-season 2021.
