A bottom two battle

By Ian Townsend

Ten points from safety, it’s a massive match for Kingstonian and Concord Rangers at Imperial Fields tonight

Kingstonian and Concord Rangers have so far had a season to forget, and tonight the two sides meet at Imperial Fields with both having a great deal of catching up to do if they are to get out of trouble at the wrong end of the table.

The match is undoubtedly more important to the K’s, as although both sides are tied on twelve points and each has won only three games this season, Rangers have five games in hand on their opponents- and a rather incredible seven games in hand over fifth bottom Margate.

Rangers have actually been in improved form of late- although whilst we say ‘of late’ that masks the fact that postponements have seen them play only twice so far this month. Two wins, three draws and two defeats from their last seven matches gives them a better recent record than most of their relegation rivals- much better than the K’s, who have lost their last five and haven’t won a league match in more than three months.

The sides are scheduled to meet again on Saturday on Canvey Island, in what will be the Beachboys first home match this month.

Kick off is at 7.45 PM.
