A Concord catch up

By Ian Townsend

We're catching up with the summer squad news from our new clubs- and it's time to head to Concord Rangers. Alfie Cue, Kyjuon Marsh-Brown, Sean Bonnett-Johnson and Kwai Marsh-Brown are new at the seaside.

The Pitching In Isthmian AGM on 20th June confirmed our new member clubs, which allows us to catch up on their summer news so far. Next up, our friends from Concord Beach.

Concord Rangers have a number of new names in their squad as the new season approaches- although a number of them are not new to us!

Forward Alfie Cue first came to prominence at Dartford. He left the Darts to move to Hitchin Town in January 2019, but remained there only until the end of that season as he found the travelling from his home in South London rather too much. He ended up at Hertford Town and managed to score seven goals in eleven appearances. In between Hitchin and Hertford he managed a handful of matches for VCD Athletic- and will also be remembered by Leatherhead fans, as he spent some time on loan there whilst a Dart. He moved on to play for East Thurrock United, and spent last season with Cheshunt.

Sean Bonnett-Johnson makes the move from Kingstonian, where he played thirty six times last season. The midfielder has played for a number of our clubs, including Romford, East Thurrock United, Potters Bar Town, Hendon, Merstham and Billericay Town. He has also played at a higher level for Braintree Town and Kettering Town, as well as north of the border for Dundee, home of that nice cake and the Beano!

Winger Kyjuon Marsh-Brown came through the ranks at Brentford, playing for the Under 18 and B teams before moving to Whitehawk, who were then in National League South. Welling United, Dartford and Hemel Hempstead Town were amongst his other clubs at that level, since when he's been with Peterborough Sports and most recently with Royston Town.

Ensuring a family connection, also arriving is Kwai Marsh-Brown. Kwai was an Arsenal youth, and after leaving the Gunners he played for Maidenhead United. Spells with Bedford Town and Whitehawk followed, but you're perhaps more likely to remember him from his time at Marlow. He made twenty six appearances during 2019-20, another nine the following season (which, as you'll recall, ended almost as soon as it started), and two more during 21-22. He also had a short spell at St Neots Town.
