A debut goal for new blue Jones

By Ian Townsend

Callum Jones signs on at Billericay Town with a goal

Billericay Town had a new name in their squad as they took on Hashtag United on Saturday, and he scored a debut goal, too, but ultimately new arrival Callum Jones couldn't help his club pick up any points.

Forward Callum joins the club on loan from National League South Chelmsford City. He came through the ranks at Colchester United, coming through the youth system to play regularly at Under 18 and Under 21 level, and in reality saw his time at United eventually ended by serious injury. He joined City in the Spring of 2021 and has had more injury woes in Claret, including a broken ankle.

We suspect- although it doesn't seem to appear in his biography- that he is the same Callum Jones who made nine appearances for Maldon and Tiptree during the 2018-19 campaign, as if it isn't him he'll probably be the only Colchester United youth in the past ten years not to have played for the Jammers at least once!

A fine day for Hornchurch, who didn’t play! Both Chatham and Billericay lose- Carshalton and the Tags the victors- whilst Horsham go fifth. Rooks and Gulls deliver a late show, but have to settle for a point each
