Luca Albon swaps Canvey Island for Heybridge Swifts

Pitching In Isthmian North Play Off chasers Heybridge Swifts yesterday strengthened their squad with the signing of midfielder Luca Albon, recently announced as a departure from Canvey Island.

Luca came through the Academy setup at Charlton Athletic, and first became an Isthmian with Bowers and Pitsea right at the- very premature- end of the 2020-21 campaign, making his debut against Hornchurch in the FA Trophy, scoring after fifteen minutes, and then seeing his campaign come to an immediate end as our football did the same.

The 21-22 season saw him playing twenty times, his last Bowers appearance coming- rather appropriately if you're looking for symmetry- in defeat to Hornchurch on New Years Day 22. He was part of the Bowers side which made it all the way to the FA Cup First Round, when he entered the field at Lincoln City as a first half substitute. In January 22 he moved on to Cray Wanderers, and made seventeen appearances as they narrowly retained their Premier Division status, before joining the Gulls at the start of the 22-23 campaign. He went on to play forty three times last season, scoring three goals- each one in a victory for his side.

He spent a little time at Concord Rangers in the summer before deciding he preferred life as a Gull than a Beachboy, and quickly returned to the MovieStarr Stadium, where he has played sixteen times and scored one goal- the winner against Kingstonian last month.
